Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an American animated television series produced by Fred Wolf Films and based on the comic book characters created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.

Set in New York City, it follows the Turtles and their allies as they battle Shredder, Krang, and other villains.

The property was changed considerably from the darker-toned comics to make it more suitable for children and families.

It ran for 10 seasons and 193 episodes from 1987 to 1996.

What is the show about?

Four mutant turtles - Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo - live in the New York sewers with Master Splinter.

They battle Shredder, Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady, and protect the city with their friend, reporter April O'Neil.

The series was made lighter and more family-friendly than Eastman and Laird’s darker comics: more pizza, more cowabunga, and less graphic violence - while still running a long action story across ten seasons.

The Hebrew dub

The first season was dubbed at Zaund Studios, directed by Raviv Shenkar.

The seasons 1-4 Hebrew theme was written and composed by Avner Hodorov and performed by Moti Dikna and Sima Amiel.

The seasons 5-10 theme was performed by Saar Badishi and Sharon Cohen, a Hebrew version of the American opening.

They're the world's most fearsome fighting team (We're really hip!)
They're heroes in a half shell and they're green (Hey, get a grip!)
When the evil Shredder attacks
These Turtle boys don't cut him no slack!
